Our Volunteers

Winchester
Our facility has two Pet Therapy Groups who volunteer through our Activities Department. Mr. Cook and his dogs, Winchester and Ruger are a hit among the residents. They are larger dogs who enjoy the attention they receive and perform tricks on command such as ‘sit’ and ‘shake’. Love on a Leash is a man with yorkies who visits residents that prefer smaller lap dogs.
Southwestern High School has a nationally recognized program called the Raptor Club which rescues birds of prey. They are invited annually to present their groups efforts, achievements, etc… to the residents. They also bring some really cool birds to show the residents. This intergenerational program is a huge success with the residents and the school. The Assistant Superintendent of Schools discussed the success of the Raptor Clubs visit with me.
